This Insight was originally published by 3Cat.
3CatInfo, 3Cat’s new flagship news brand, launched on Wednesday, 17 September, with a revamped range of content for various platforms and channels. This new information universe, which is committed to digitalisation and innovation, brings together a new app, a new website, new formats on social networks, new messaging channels, new television news programmes, the new ‘Més324’ – now called ‘Mésnit’, ‘Els matins’ – now called “Matins” –, an international analysis newsletter (‘Mirada global’), a daily podcast (‘El radar’), the new Catalunya Informació and the new channel 324 under the common brand 3CatInfo.
With this transformation, 3Cat aims to offer more relevant, reliable, and accessible information to tackle today’s major challenges such as misinformation, content overload and declining interest in the news. With tools that help cut through the noise and focus on what is essential.

We broadcast news to better connect with citizens
One of the most visible transformations of 3CatInfo is the revamping of its news programmes, with new presenters, structure and identity. Each edition is redesigned to better connect with the audience and adapt to different times of the day. It offers a more fluid news experience, designed to adapt to the rhythm and context of citizens’ lives.

An integrated, digital, public service news model
3CatInfo is built as a multi-platform ecosystem, in which television, radio and digital media work in a coordinated manner. The aim is to provide accurate and understandable information to every citizen, regardless of the channel they use.
Key points of the new model:
- A single brand for all 3Cat news content
- Content adapted for fast, mobile and visual consumption

Latest Features
A firm commitment to digital content
With 3CatInfo comes a complete renewal of the digital channels:
New website 3CatInfo.cat
A more visual, intuitive and mobile-optimised portal. The new website focuses on context and explanation, with an improved user experience and a clear content hierarchy.
New mobile app
The existing 324 app evolves into the new 3CatInfo app, merging traditional news consumption with a format inspired by social media dynamics. It includes:
- Improved features to adapt to the user’s interests
- ‘Get up to speed in 3 minutes’: a section for quick and easy access to the day’s headlines
- Vertical video formats designed to reflect the viewing experience on social media platforms
New formats: the podcast, the newsletter and direct channels with the audience
3CatInfo introduces complementary formats of current affairs and context, designed to reach further and connect better with the audience:
“El radar”: a daily news podcast
Hosted by Eloi Barrera, “El radar” is a short podcast (10 minutes), available from Monday to Friday. Each episode is a calm conversation with a 3CatInfo journalist who has delved into a current issue. It is a proposal for thoughtful, expert journalism that aims to highlight the professional practice of the organisation’s reporters.
“Mirada global”: weekly bulletin of international information
Every Friday, Joan Carles Peris, Sergi Roca, Lluís Caelles or Quim Olivares sign a bulletin with global current affairs explained in context. A calm format designed to understand where the world is heading, aimed at those who want to follow international information with a critical perspective.
WhatsApp and Telegram channels
To reach more citizens without filters or algorithms, 3CatInfo opens channels on WhatsApp and Telegram. The sending will be selective: few messages, but relevant ones. The contents of 3CatInfo Verifica will have special prominence in combating disinformation in these environments.

Social networks: understandable information and adapted formats
The social profiles of 3CatInfo are born with a consolidated community:
- Instagram. It inherits the recognition of 324.cat with nearly 700,000 followers. Explanatory carousels, short videos and infographics will be promoted.
- X (formerly Twitter). It combines the profiles of 324 and Catalunya Informació to reach almost a million followers. In a polarised environment, 3CatInfo is committed to providing accurate and relevant information.
- Facebook. It will continue along the path of 324 with almost 400,000 followers, whom it will keep up to date with the news with its usual rigour and new video formats.
A pioneering set and cutting-edge production
Located in Sant Joan Despí, the new 3CatInfo set is one of the most advanced in Europe. Covering 400 m², it serves as a shared set for TV3 news programmes and shows such as ‘Matins’ and ‘Mésnit’. This cutting-edge set is the technological heart of this new phase.
Notable innovations:
- Giant screens, including 3.5 m vertical screens, one of which can move 360º.
- Modular central table and spaces for specialised sections.
- Five robotic cameras, unique in the world, with laser movement and artistic and precise production.
This infrastructure represents a qualitative leap in audiovisual storytelling and scenic creativity.

24-hour channels are also undergoing a transformation
The new news universe presents a renewed offering of the current continuous news services on television and radio.
The former channels 324 (television) and Catalunya Informació (radio) are being reinvented as 3CatInfo channels, with a new approach to continuous news:
- More live coverage and real-time reactions
- More context and in-depth analysis
- Synergies with the website, app and social networks
- New graphic image, new jingles and new presenters
The DTT channel presents an innovative visual approach that can offer three levels of information: a slot with the day’s headlines, a vertical space for accessing information from the news platform via QR codes and news blocks, as well as the broadcast of the programmes ‘Telenotícies’, “Matins” and ‘Mésnit’.
3CatInfo: the future of information in Catalan is already here
3CatInfo was created to respond to new consumption habits and the current communications context. It is a bold, innovative and necessary move to maintain 3Cat’s leadership as a benchmark for information in Catalan.
With new faces, new technology and new formats, the project puts citizens at the centre and offers information that is more understandable, accessible and useful for everyone. Inform, understand, connect.
