The World Television Awards celebrate the crucial role played by media in promoting “the awareness of the audience on major issues such as cultural diversity, religious understanding, tolerance and peace”.

Launched by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in 2004, the competition offers a great opportunity for producers to receive international recognition for their work. The awards are open to all broadcasters worldwide, including public, private sector and freelance producers.

The AIBD have issued a “call for entry” to the following categories:

  • Humanity for the Best TV Documentary on “Combating Poverty”
  • Science/Environment for the best TV Programme on “Sustainable Energy”

Winners will receive a prize of US$ 5,000 and will be presented their award during the Asia Media Summit in Qingdao, China on the 6-8 June 2017.
