The Public Media Alliance congratulates its board member, Menesia Muinjo, who has been appointed the next director general of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

Muinjo previously served as Chief, News and Programming for the NBC. She has been appointed for a five-year term, beginning 1 April 2026. She succeeds Stanley Similo.

“Ms. Muinjo brings a wealth of experience in media, broadcasting, and public sector leadership,” said Lazarus Jacobs, the chair of the NBC board. “Her career reflects a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape, including digital transformation, and underscores the vital role of public broadcasting in advancing national development, fostering social cohesion, and ensuring access to information.”

Muinjo joined the PMA board in January 2026. The NBC has been a member of the Public Media Alliance since 1990.

“I am delighted that Menesia will be the next director general of NBC. It is a testament to her strong track record leading the public broadcaster’s news department. From disinformation to the responsible use of AI, this is an era of enormous change for public service media worldwide, and we look forward to tackling these challenges with Menesia.”
