Veteran Caribbean radio announcer, Andrew Vaughn Noel, has died in hospital in his native Grenada.
Noel began his broadcasting career at the former Windward Islands Broadcasting Service. He also worked at ZIZ in St Kitts, and Radio Caribbean International in St Lucia.
St Lucia’s information minister Dr James Fletcher said: “Vaughn, as he was popularly and affectionately known by so many, was a staple fixture in St Lucia’s media landscape for several decades.
“The media fraternity in St Lucia has lost one of its finest personalities and St Lucia has lost a much loved adopted son.”
In 2004, Noel was made a Member of the Order of St Lucia and was bestowed with the award of Les Pitons Medal Silver, for his significant contribution to media and broadcasting.
Andrew Noel passed away last week, and the cause of death has not yet been released.
