The Public Media Alliance adds its voice to the Committee to Protect Journalists’ (CPJ) call to reinstate access to the television channel across parts of Pakistan.

As reported by the CPJ,  the Pakistani television channel and PMA member, Geo TV, was not available across large parts of the country, including Karachi, Lahore and Multan. The Channel has been arbitrarily blocked before and as of 3 April has 80% of its network blocked.

While the government claims to have taken no steps to block the channel, The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ordered cable operators on 2 April to restore normal access within 24 hours. This request is yet to be carried out according to Geo TV.

More information can be found via the CPJ website.
