About the panel

The online world isn’t built for democratic debate. But that’s because the responsibility to create those spaces has been outsourced to those who are more interested in maximizing their profits. While societies are re-learning the art of civil debate, they also need the right spaces to do so.

The Public Spaces Incubator (PSI), launched in 2022 by public media companies, seeks to provide such spaces. This session explores the PSI and spotlights some of the features already being rolled out across public media platforms to enable democratic discourse.
