The Public Media Alliance is deeply troubled by the recent police raids on the offices of our member the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, in Sydney.

Media freedom is increasingly under threat worldwide. It is therefore a matter of serious concern that journalists working for an established, trusted and highly respected public media organisation are targeted for investigating and reporting in the public interest.

It is time for public media worldwide to unite and speak out for the values of public media and the essential role that high quality journalism plays in democratic society.

PMA stands with the ABC and the rights of public media journalists to undertake their work unhindered.
