The Public Media Alliance is proud to welcome two new board members, whose extensive research, industry, and commercial experience will complement PMA’s efforts to support and advocate public media in increasingly difficult media environments globally.

Dr. SunWook Choi is Chief Strategy Officer at KBS, South Korea’s public broadcaster. He joined KBS in 1993 as a broadcasting engineer and worked in a variety of roles including working in new media service, public policy and KBS’s research institute before moving into strategy development, working across the organisation.

SunWook received his Ph.D. from the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting at Chung-Ang University, and is currently serving as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Communication at the same university and as a non-executive director of KT Skylife.

Tomas Hedenius is Communications Director at Swedish Radio, with extensive experience in communications, data driven marketing, public affairs and crisis management. Prior to joining Swedish Radio in 2022, Tomas held roles such as Communications Director, Marketing Director, consultant and Press Officer at Dun & Bradstreet, Deutsche Bahn and JM (a large Swedish construction company), among others.

“It is a pleasure to welcome SunWook and Tomas to the PMA Board. Their wealth of experiences in and out of the public media sphere will be a real asset to the organisation, our members, and our advocacy work worldwide. I thoroughly look forward to working with them both”, said PMA CEO, Kristian Porter.

SunWook and Tomas’s terms start with immediate effect.
