REGISTRATION: RSVP to editor@publicmediaalliance.org by Monday 28 April.

EVENT: Wednesday 30 April

Effective disaster risk preparedness is vital due to the increasing frequency and intensity of natural hazards worldwide. Public service media (PSM) organisations play a crucial role in disseminating timely and accurate information, educating the public, and fostering community resilience. This roundtable aims to explore how broadcasters can enhance disaster preparedness and resilience through innovative approaches, best practices, and strategic collaborations, ensuring that even the most vulnerable audiences are reached.

This session is designed for staff at PMA member organisations involved in content creation, emergency broadcasting, community outreach, and those interested in strengthening their organisation’s role in disaster preparedness. Whether your organisation has established protocols or is seeking to develop strategies in this area, your participation and insights will be invaluable.

The roundtable will address key questions, including:

  • How can PSM organisations effectively support disaster risk preparedness and resilience?
  • What innovative approaches have been successful in engaging communities?
  • What role does data journalism play in improving disaster response and preparedness?
  • How can broadcasters collaborate with local organisations and authorities?
  • What strategies ensure that vulnerable audiences receive critical information?

Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from case studies highlighting successful initiatives.

Speakers will be announced soon, so keep an eye on our website, social media pages, and our newsletter, PMA Update.
