Press Release
With trust in media at an all-time low, there has never been a better opportunity, nor more urgent need, for public media organisations to come together and advocate for their shared principles.
The core values of public media journalism underpin informed democracy. These are the values that build and sustain trust in media. As the largest global association of public media organisations, PMA is uniquely placed to lead a global ‘Call Out’ for public and like-minded media to commit to and promote the core values of PSM.
Earlier this month, the PMA Board approved a new, two year strategy and funding model for PMA, which, with your continued support, will enable us to build international consensus around public media and create a stronger, united voice.
In the coming weeks we will be inviting you to become more involved in our strategy which will include a global public media scoping exercise, the launch of a Global Task Force for PSMand greater collaboration with members and international partners.
We look forward to working with you. There is no better time to advocate for public media which remains one of the most trusted sources for news and information.
It is time to build international consensus around public media to create a stronger united voice
PMA’s next steps to build global consensus around PSM will be:
- A scoping exercise, to formally identify key public media organisations worldwide
- Collaboration with members and partners to review and define the core values of public media in the multiplatform era
- Review and clarify what is not PSM
- Lead a global call out for public media and like-minded organisations to commit to the core values of PSM
